Digital Camera Buying Help - Comparing Canon PowerShot Models

As a hardcore amateur photographer, I must admit I fell in love with the Canon cameras and wouldn't switch to anther manufacturer for anything in the world. I noticed I'm not the only one with this fetish, as I visited Disney World I noticed that PowerShots were the most common cameras. So here is my list of favorite Canon cameras. Any of these are excellent choices.
1. SD1100IS
Equipped with a 8MP image sensor, this baby offers great image stabilization, longer zoom level (38-114 mm) and a better design. It comes in colors and can be great gifts.
2. SD870IS
This model is the one for you if you want a wider-angle lens. Except the lack of the viewfinder, making it rather impossible to use in a bright light, you will simply love all its facilities.
3. SD770IS
This is supposed to be an update of the SD1100IS model, costs $50-ish more and doesn't come in colors. Other than longer battery lifetime I couldn't see any difference to its predecessor, hence I rated it lower.
4. SD950IS
With a titanium body and a 12.1 MP sensor, this camera is simply gorgeous. An unique function that comes out of the box is the ability to put together panoramic images. I haven't rated it higher because it is a bit too pricey for the functionalities it offers.
5. SD890IS
This one is the most expensive in the PowerShot ELPH series. It comes with a 10MP sensor and a whopping 5x optical zoom. So if you need a camera with a long zoom lens, then this is definitely the one for you.
6. SD790IS
I like the SD770IS model better than this one. The 790IS comes with 3x zoom lens and 10 megapixel sensor, which is quite normal for a 2009 camera. The downside is the lack of an optical viewfinder. The only thing that makes this camera stand out is perhaps the 3" LCD display.
7. SD1000IS
This model has been replaced by SD1100IS, which is on the very top of my preferences. It doesn't come with image stabilization, which I would consider an important feature. It's quite a nice camera, that's why I put it in this favorites list, but no longer worth buying: if you like it, get its successor!
Getting the perfect Canon camera, is never an easy thing, especially with the way digital technology is constantly changing. Fortunately, there are plenty of helpful websites online, that can narrow down your search and help you find the camera with all the features important to you.

Canon Powershot G9 Digital Camera - Shoot Everything

Ever since its release, the whole world is raving about it. If you check any website for camera reviews or even the ones at YouTube, you are most certainly going to find praises and more praises for this feature packed device from Canon. For starters, it is a 12.1mp camera with a 4x digital zoom and a huge 3-inch LCD screen for a fabulous display. Let's find out more.
The G9 gives absolutely stunning image quality and functionality thanks to the 12.1MP count resolution featured in it. It is a regular point and shoot camera which includes a 6x optical zoom. When both the zooms are combined you can get up to 24x of a maximum zoom. Not only that, the camera also has the Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology that gives you amazing results.
Another attractive feature of the G9 is the 3-inch LCD screen that gives amazing pre/post picture viewing and is excellent for reviewing your on camera editing of the photos. The screen is a large Pure Color screen with its distinct Canon mark. Along side the screen are placed easy to access manual and ISO mode controls.
The camera is also loaded with another Canon special- its Image Inspection Tool through which you can not only review but also compare photos before selecting the ones for printing. This technology is linked directly to the Face Detection Technology and enables the camera to automatically detect the main subject of picture and automatically zoom to focus on it.
The G9 comes with no less than 23 shooting modes including Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Beach, Snow, Night etc. Apart from these users can also make most of modes like Manual, Aperture Priority, Shutter Speed priority and even two custom modes. The RAW format of the camera will be a delight for photographers as it gives a creative edge by providing some excellent post picture editing and image reproduction capabilities.
The design of the G9 is quite similar to all the other G series cameras and just like them comes in an elegant black color. It may look rather bulky and heavy at the first look and yes you definitely can not carry it in your shirt pocket but for a camera that is being compared to the SLRs of the segment, it is a pretty neat and easy to handle size.
This canon camera looks like quite a retro design however, the curves and smooth contours are sure to make you like it and forget about the weight it adds to your bag. Apart from that, it is an extremely responsive camera with great features and results. The camera also offers high quality video shooting and can be an excellent companion for special occasions.
All in all, the much awaited G9 can be your perfect substitute to a high end SLR and would delight you with every shot you take.
